Successful final of the 2025/26 Slam series

In the second week of January, we competed in the last of the season's five Grand Slam tournaments. The grand final, for which only the twelve best teams of the entire series qualify, took place in Steinbach (Manitoba, Canada).

In the preliminary round, we played a total of five matches in a group of six. The tournament was again played according to the special Slam rules: each team was only allowed one zero end, and there were no extra ends in the preliminary round. In the event of a tie after eight ends, a shootout was played – one "draw to the button" per team.

The first game against Team Tabata ended in a draw after eight ends. Alina opened the shootout with a perfect draw right on the dolly. The Japanese team countered and also covered the center. A second draw was needed. Selina played her stone just 2.7 cm from the center, while the opponent's stone came to rest a little further away. This gave us the decisive points – a real thriller to start the tournament.

We won our next three group matches against Kitazawa, Gim, and Yoshimura within the regulation eight ends. After just four games, we had already qualified for the semifinals and were among the top two teams in the preliminary round.

In our last group match against Team Einarson, however, we made too many mistakes, while our opponents played almost flawlessly. We had to concede the game.

Thanks to qualifying for the semi-finals, we had Saturday morning off. In the evening, we faced Team Gim again. With a strong performance, we won the semi-final and thus reached the final for the fifth time in five slams.

We faced Team Einarson again in Sunday's final. We took an early two-point lead in the first end. A strong and exciting match ensued, which we ultimately won. This secured our second Slam victory of the season and our third consecutive overall Players Championship title – the final of the entire Slam series.

A perfect end to an intense slam season, and I'm returning to Switzerland with a great feeling. After two weeks of training, the Ladies Cup in Bern is on the schedule from January 30th to February 1st, before the next phase of preparation for the Olympic Games begins.
