Two Weeks in Canada – Two Tournaments, Two Titles

Two intense weeks in Canada are behind us – with a perfect sporting outcome: two tournaments, two victories.

From December 10 to 14, we competed in the tournament in Swift Current. The schedule, with one game per day, allowed us to prepare optimally for each match. With consistently solid performances, we were able to win all three round-robin games:

  • Game 1: Win against Team Ueno

  • Game 2: Win against Team Constantini

  • Game 3: Win against Team Campbell

Thanks to an undefeated round robin, we qualified directly for the qualification game for positions 1–8. The winner advanced straight to the quarterfinals, while the loser received a second chance. We won Qualification Game 1 against Team Tabata.

We continued our strong performance in the playoffs:

  • Quarterfinal: 6–2 win against Team MacMillan

  • Semifinal: 5–3 win against Team Kang

  • Final: Win against Team Ha, scoring the last stone

After a relatively relaxed round robin, an intense Sunday followed with three games in one day, ending with the tournament victory.

On Sunday evening, after the three games, we travelled around three hours to Saskatoon for the next highlight: the Grand Slam of Curling.

Our round-robin results were as follows:

  • Game 1: Win against Team Yoshimura

  • Game 2: Loss against Team Kang

  • Game 3: Win against Team Tabata

  • Game 4: Win against Team Morrison

The playoffs were once again very successful:

  • Quarterfinal: Win against Team Wang

  • Semifinal: Win against Team Yoshimura

  • Final: Win against Team Fujisawa

After losing three previous Slam finals, we were finally able to win the fourth one this time – a fantastic way to close out the year.

We are now enjoying some time with family and friends in Switzerland, before the season continues on January 6 with the fifth and final Grand Slam of the season.

We wish everyone happy holidays and would like to sincerely thank all those who have supported us throughout the year.
