To wrap up the year, we traveled to Karuizawa, Japan. A long journey lay ahead: 13 hours of flying from Zurich to Tokyo. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a very helpful companion who supported us with orientation and communication in the new environment. Together, we took a bus and a train to reach Karuizawa. At the hotel, we received a warm welcome and settled into our rooms.
On the first morning, we enjoyed a sumptuous five-course breakfast before heading to training. After our training sessions, we took the opportunity to explore the charming village, stroll through the shops, savor delicious Japanese cuisine, and immerse ourselves in the fascinating culture. Everyone we met was incredibly friendly and supportive.
The tournament kicked off on Friday with an official practice session, followed by two games. We won the first game but unfortunately lost the second. On Saturday, we played our third and final group match, which we won, securing our spot in the semifinals on Sunday morning.
In the semifinals, we faced the strong Team Yoshimura and were defeated. However, we redeemed ourselves in the bronze medal match, securing a victory and finishing our final game of 2024 with a win.
On Monday, the long journey back home awaited us. At home, we are looking forward to a week of individual training sessions and a sponsor event before we can relax and enjoy the holiday season.
