After the Grand Slam in London, our next stop was the Stu Sells Toronto Tankard. A total of 24 teams competed, and we managed to win all three of our group games:
Game 1: 6:2 win against Team Hürlimann
Game 2: 10:1 win against Team Markle
Game 3: 9:3 win against Team Scharf
With these three victories, we qualified for the Top 8 Qualifier Game. The format was simple: winners advanced directly to the quarterfinals, while the losers had a second chance against the winners from the 9–16 qualifier bracket.
Once again, we faced Team Scharf, for the second time in a row. We managed to secure another win, which sent us straight into the quarterfinals. What made this game special was not only meeting Team Scharf for a third consecutive time, but also the late start: the game began at 9:30 p.m., and we didn’t leave the ice until 11:45 p.m.
The next morning at 8:30 a.m., we played the semifinal against Team Kim from Korea. Despite the short recovery time, we delivered a strong performance and won 9:4. In the afternoon, we headed into the final, where we were in control and held the lead for most of the game – but in the end, we narrowly let the victory slip away.
Although the final result was disappointing, the positives clearly outweigh the negatives.
Right after the tournament, we traveled on to Calgary, where on Friday, October 10, the next stop of our four-week Canadian tour awaited us: the Autumn Gold Curling Classic.
