The last two tournaments in 2023

The last two tournaments in 2023 are already over. From December 6-10, we played the Nutrien AG Solutions Western Showdown in Swift Current, Canada. After a solid round robin, in which we won four out of four games, we qualified for the quarterfinals against Team Wrana. Unfortunately, we had a few too many misses on Sunday morning, which meant we finished in 5th place. Nevertheless, we were able to get a good feeling for the Grand Slam of Curling in Saskatoon the following week.

Our first match at the Grand Slam was against Team Morrison from Scotland. With a strong second end, in which we were able to write 5 stones, we built up a good lead. In the following ends, the Scots played better and better and we made small mistakes. In the end, we went into the last end with a draw, which we were able to win. In the second game, we lost to the strong Homan team from Canada. We won the next two group matches against Team Wrana and Team Lawes and qualified for the quarter-finals. On Saturday morning, after a good performance, we won the quarter-final against Team Peterson from the USA and the following semi-final against Team Einarson. On Sunday morning, we faced Team Homan again in the final. We made a few small mistakes and the opposing team played very solidly. Unfortunately, we lost the final and achieved a very good second place in the Grand Slam of Curling.

We can now recover over the Christmas period and look forward to the next tournament in January 2024.

We wish everyone a good start to 2024!
